ECG 2024 Impact on the Pacific Economy

ECG 2024 Footprint

As we reflect on the milestones of the past year, we are proud to share the highlights from our 2024 Impact Report. This year has been an incredible journey of collaboration, growth, and meaningful impact. From supporting an international development agency - SPC, Pacific businesses across the Auckland region, large public sector organisations, and community organisations with their unique needs in Strategy, Engagement, and Evaluation, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with and engage people across Aotearoa and the Pacific.

2024 Footprint Report

Our 2024 Impact Report provides a concise overview of the key activities we undertook during the year and their impact. It highlights headline data from our national and international projects, as well as the businesses we supported through the Pacific Business Village - an initiative funded by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples.

Four key projects are featured in the report, each showcasing a unique aspect of our work.

The Pacific Business Village, where ECG serves as a Network Provider, led to the creation of Elevate Sustainable Business Sessions. These exclusive, invite-only sessions provided Pacific business owners with a supportive and intimate setting to listen to industry leaders Alex Fala, Sheena Tavioni and Anau Mesui-Henry as well as network, share ideas, and focus on topics like financial sustainability, business wellbeing, and marketing.

We also developed three compelling Pasifika History video resources for Te Poutāhū Curriculum Centre (Ministry of Education). These videos explored significant and inspiring stories, including the 150 Niue soldiers who served in WWI, the establishment of the Pasifika Rugby Hall of Fame, and the history of the Ōtara Markets.

This year, we produced the Soul Sessions White Sunday Special, a project funded by the Ministry of Education, which explored the annual White Sunday celebration amongst Pacific Christian churches. Additionally, we proudly supported Puti, a short film made in New Zealand that premiered in November 2024, as Associate Producers.

ECG’s three key areas: Strategy, Evaluation, and Engagement.

In the area of Strategy, we collaborated with the University of Auckland, New Zealand’s top-ranked university, to co-design their first-ever Pacific strategy. This important milestone was achieved through meaningful engagement with staff and students. Similarly, we partnered with the Maurice Wilkins Centre to develop their inaugural Pacific Strategy for 2025–2028, which was created through a comprehensive co-designed survey and a series of talanoa (dialogues).

In Evaluation, we partnered with the Ministry of Social Development and Tertiary Education Commission to evaluate initiatives aimed at equipping Pacific peoples to become work-ready and independent job seekers. We also reviewed the travel management system for SPC and provided a series of recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operational systems to cater for their on-going growth and travel needs. This led our team to engage with their stakeholders in New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga.

For Engagement, several organisations turned to ECG for our expertise. Pacific Perspectives, a Pacific-owned public policy consultancy, engaged our media and communications team to support their 2024 Aniva Pacific Nurses Fono. The Norman Kirk Memorial Trust, which provides tertiary education opportunities for students in New Zealand and the Pacific, commissioned us to create a communications and social media campaign to raise awareness of their mission and the legacy of the late former Prime Minister.

We were also excited to work with two large corporations - Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and Fisher & Paykel - on specific cultural engagement workshops and a media project, showcasing the strength of enduring relationships and cultural connections with companies we have worked with over several years.

Looking ahead to 2025

As we look ahead to 2025, we are filled with optimism and continue to be driven by our purpose: we’re dedicated to serving our clients while leaving a positive footprint in our communities. Proudly New Zealand-made and deeply connected to our Polynesian heritage, we strive for excellence in delivering Strategy, Engagement, and Evaluation
