First Ever Pacific Strategy
Founded in 1883, the University of Auckland (UoA) is New Zealand’s largest university, with over 40,000 students and approximately 6000 academic and professional staff . It is a leading world-ranked university (65th in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2025), and nationally it is ranked as New Zealand’s number one.
The contribution of Pacific engagement to academic life enriches the distinctive and special character of the UoA. With approximately 3,200 Pacific students enrolled across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and 367 Pacific staff members, there is a commitment to enabling the success of Pacific communities and Pacific-led research.
Reaffirming their commitment to fostering academic success of Pacific staff, students and communities, the University of Auckland are in the process of developing their first-ever Pacific Strategy.
ECG were privileged to support this milestone achievement and were commissioned by the UoA to lead the consultations and engagement across the university and with Pacific leaders across various sectors and communities. ECG utilised its expertise in engagement with Pacific peoples, research, evaluation and data analyses. We provided recommendations to guide UoA leadership with the next phase of the Pacific Strategy development.
